Stephen Maddern submitted his first Flash game to our Games collection: Super Monkey Poop Fight. Stephen said: “this is my first flash experience and it required the use of many tutorials. Thanks for all the help”.

Today, in our Articles section, we published Zack Booth Simpson’s paper about Game Programming Patterns, which are named problems and common solutions in game programming. In the first half of the ’90s, Zack joined the game development company Origin Systems (which later became a subsidiary of Electronic Arts) as a programmer on Ultima. Eventually he became the Director of Technology at Origin and worked in a variety of roles on such games as the Ultima series, Wing Commander, Crusader, BioForge, and Ultima Online.

Jakub Dvorsky sent us his first experimental Flash game: it’s a sort of puzzle/adventure game with wonderful graphics, where you have to help the little Samorost to avoid the collision of the incoming asteroid with his little world.

Only a few days ago the beta Flash Player 8 was released and you can already find tons of interesting resources and “hacks” to play with. We’ve collected a few of these appetizing links where you will find the complete set of features introduced by the new player, how to use them with the current Flash IDE and some very nice examples of their usage! If you have more links just add them in there!

A fresh new Spotlight issue is online featuring a promising action/strategy multiplayer game, Dawn2. It features top-notch graphics, a well balanced gameplay and it’s free to play! Could ask for more? Probably no! But you should read what we asked to their authors in our interview!
